Research into the wider social benefits of Cadets
As you may be aware, a study has
been commissioned, on behalf of the MoD Sponsored Cadets Forces,
into the wider societal benefits of Cadets.
The study is being undertaken by Southampton University and should assist in the
development of a wider business case to demonstrate the worth of the
Cadet Forces that could have a significant bearing on future
funding.
In order to be considered valid,
the study requires responses from as many Cadet Force Adult
Volunteers and Cadets as possible. The questionnaires are to
be completed online between Monday 21 June and Monday 5 July.
The window for collecting data is
small - just two weeks - and every effort should be made to
encourage Cadet Force Adult Volunteers and Cadets to visit the
website and complete the questionnaire as soon as possible before
the website closes on Monday 5 July.
This message should be cascaded
down across the whole Cadet Force population as comprehensively as
possible in order to ensure that the study has sufficient returns to
complete a credible report.
The questionnaire website goes
live on Monday 21 June and is at:

Air Cadet Instructors at CVQO Graduation

Twenty two Air Cadet Instructors from all over the UK were
recognised for their community based learning achievements on Friday
(23 October). Admiral the Lord West of Spithead presented the awards
at the CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation) graduation
ceremony, at the prestigious Britannia Royal Naval College
Dartmouth, in front of colleagues, families and friends.
They were presented with a City and Guilds Senior Award in Youth
Management and Training, comparable to Foundation, Honours and
Master’s degrees and achieved through their work as a Cadet Force
Adult Volunteers.
They were from among 88 adult volunteers from the Ministry of
Defence’s sponsored Cadet Forces across the United Kingdom to
graduate with CVQO internationally recognised awards from City &
Guilds. Successful completion of these awards recognises at least
five years of professional development and managerial experience.
Edward Woods, Chief Executive, CVQO, praised the volunteers’ efforts
saying: “The qualifications which you have attained are held in very
high regard. Not only do they demonstrate the importance and quality
of the training that adults receive through cadet training courses,
but they are highly valued within the world of work. We are
immensely proud of all you have accomplished and whatever your
ambitions, we wish you well for your continued success. On behalf of
all of us at CVQO I congratulate each of you here today. ”
Lifelong learning such as is available through CVQO and the cadet
movement, remains very much at the forefront of Government thinking.
Through its fundraising activities CVQO hopes to be able to expand
what it can offer to young people and adults alike.
